OkCupid, the pinnacle of human intelligence.

Back in the day OkCupid used to be a cool indie startup that was mostly used by nerds to find other local nerds to be friends with. They had an awesome developer blog where they would release detailed user statistics called OkTrends. The original OkCupid team was full of super nerdy mathematicians and statisticians who used their knowledge to study user behavior and match people with similar interests.

In 2010 they released a hard hitting blog post that analyzed user metrics from their competition at the time: Match.com, PlentyOfFish, and AdultFriendFinder. They found that although Match.com advertised having millions of users, there were only a few thousand users active on any given week.

About 6 months later Match.com bought OkCupid for $50,000,000 and deleted the blog post.
